LEGO Challenge!

Phillippa Chippendale

Welcome to the ultimate 30-Day LEGO Challenge! We are thrilled to launch this month-long journey of creativity, critical thinking, and hands-on learning right here on ICTinschools.org. Far from just a fun pastime, this daily challenge serves as a powerful, interactive catalyst for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths) education.

How This Challenge Reinforces STEM:

  • Science & Physics: Prompts like building a NASA rocket or a Mars spaceship force creators to think about aerodynamics, gravity, and environmental adaptation.
  • Technology & Innovation: Designing complex structures like a functional robot or a futuristic TARDIS encourages computational thinking and creative problem-solving.
  • Engineering Design: Projects such as building the world’s tallest tower, a secure bank safe, or a weight-bearing bridge require a deep dive into structural integrity, balance, and load distribution.
  • Practical Mathematics: Daily builds inherently require scale modeling, symmetry, geometric spatial reasoning, and careful resource estimation.

Get Ready to Build! Grab your brick bin, unleash your imagination, and check back daily to share your masterpieces with our community. The only rule is to have fun!

Each unique prompt pushes participants to step into the shoes of real-world professionals—challenging them to design structurally sound bridges, calculate proportions for deep-space rockets, and prototype innovative architectural solutions. By transforming abstract concepts into tangible, brick-by-brick creations, builders develop spatial awareness, test physics principles, and embrace the iterative design process essential for future innovators.

When does the challenge start?

We launch the challenge on 1st August 2026 and will post a new challenge each day!

📖 Item 1: Introducing AI Quests – Experiential AI Literacy for Every Classroom

Looking for a high-engagement, meaningful computing activity for Year 6 classes after SATs? Google has released AI Quests, a completely free, game-based learning platform engineered specifically for students aged 11–14.

What is AI Quests?

AI Quests guides students through a series of interactive, code-free problem-solving challenges. Instead of writing code lines, pupils evaluate what it takes to responsibly design, test, and apply artificial intelligence networks to solve real-world global and societal challenges.

Crucial features for school deployment:

  • Grounded in Reality: Every quest is built upon real-world computer science initiatives conducted by Google Research divisions.
  • 100% Data Safe: Crucially for setting compliance, no live AI is used within this sandbox game environment. The browser-based game does not harvest pupil metrics, store cookies, or require personal account registration details.
  • Teacher Frameworks: The platform currently features two active modules, with additional expansions arriving shortly. Each module comes standard with download-ready teacher lesson guides and answer rubrics.

👉 Ready to launch it with your classes? Launch the Official AI Quests Platform Here.

🗣️ Share Your Classroom Feedback

Did your pupils complete the quests? We want to know how it went! Please submit your feedback, tool comments, or student samples to our secure AI Newsletter Feedback Form. Submissions can be completely anonymous, and file uploads are supported.
