As an official Apple Regional Training Centre (RTC), ICT in Schools is dedicated to transforming classroom learning across South Tyneside and beyond through the creative and effective use of Apple technology.

Operating from our specialist base at OpenZone@TheWord, our mission is to equip teachers and support staff with the skills, confidence, and resources needed to make a genuine impact on children’s learning. Through tailored professional learning programmes, hands-on CPD workshops, and collaborative community events, we help schools unlock the full potential of iPad and Mac in the curriculum.

Our Core Goals

• High-Quality Training: Facilitate practical CPD opportunities for teachers to build confidence using Apple technology in classroom practice.
• Apple Teacher Recognition: Support educators through the self-paced Apple Teacher programme and assist experienced users in completing the Apple Teacher Portfolio.
• Innovation & Creativity: Share cutting-edge learning strategies, coding skills, and “app-smashing” workflows to elevate student engagement.
• Community & Collaboration: Build a thriving regional network of educators to share best practices and celebrate success.
