In this workshop, pupils use Tinkercad to architect intricate “Ice Palaces,” applying their knowledge of 3D shapes, symmetry, and scale. Students will learn to manipulate X, Y, and Z axes, group complex objects, and use “hole” tools to create hollow chambers and archways, transforming abstract mathematical concepts into tangible structures.
The session focuses on the real-world engineering cycle—moving from a digital blueprint to a physical object. Pupils will optimise their designs for 3D printing, learning about structural integrity and the limitations of 3D materials.
By the end of the day, their frozen fortresses/sandcastles will be ready for the slicing software and the 3D printer, providing a high-impact, futuristic conclusion to their primary school computing journey.
