How using StoryWorld can enhance writing
John Gardner, in his book The Art of Fiction, wrote, “… whatever the genre may be, fiction does its work by creating a dream in the reader’s mind.” In other words, the writer’s task is to keep the reader under his or her spell. Descriptive imagery helps the reader visualize the context for the story, whether it be a poem, novel, short story or a play. StoryWorld @ The Word captures the creativity by immersing the audience in a world of their imagination. By using the room to write in, children will be inspired and demonstrate how imagery can enhance their creative writing.
This course leads on from the resources developed by South Tyneside Literacy Advisors of the Creative Text Literacy training and Teaching Sequences. You will have the chance to experience StoryWorld @ The Word and consider how the resource could be used to accelerate attainment in writing.
